Jamaica HIV/AIDS/STI National Strategic Plan 2002-2006


This Jamaica HIV/AIDS/STI National Strategic Plan 2002-2006 (JHANSP) is the latest of a number of drafts. It will be updated constantly as new work is completed.

Why strategic planning
  • To guide the national HIV/AIDS response.
  • To promote the growth and development of the multi-sectoral National AIDS Committee and other co-ordination mechanisms for sustainable national response against HIV/AIDS/STI.
  • To allow government, planners and decision-makers at all levels to participate in concrete strategic interventions.
  • To reduce and minimize duplication of efforts and maximize the use of appropriate resources.
  • To facilitate the expansion and development of workplans by all sectors.
  • To mobilize all players to participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of national plan.


Goals
  • To build an effective multi-sectoral response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic
  • To mitigate the socio-economic and health impact of HIV/AIDS in the society
  • To decrease individual vulnerability to HIV infection
  • To reduce the transmission of new HIV infection
  • To improve care, support and treatment services of Persons Living withHIV/AIDS (PLWHA)
